Tiger Woods and TGL may have found the way!

Fort Myers, FL – No Monday Night Football, lack of overall excitement for College Basketball, so I turned to an old friend and his new venture the TGL and boy did he deliver.  Fortunately, or unfortunately for this new league to succeed it needs buy in on several fronts.  The obvious is that Tiger needs to consistently give us some Tiger moments.  What I mean isn’t solely with the golf club but letting the general golf population hear and feel his humor and ability to cut you to shreds with it!  Those inside the ropes know of his uncanny ability to get you, but he's been recluse in showing it to the fans.  We’ve had flashes from the tampon and JT to his world renown flatulence, but him with a mic on is priceless.  Not only is he the greatest to ever play the game but is on the PGA Tour Mount Rushmore of pranksters.  




The TGL will need him to be over the top with his humor and present in the arena.  Last night was the best they’ve had in three starts, and his playing ability along with his banter and close relationship with Rory made it a must watch.  They need to bottle that and release it to the other super talented players that participate but lack the personality to drive the needle.  There have been 2 needles in sports over the past 35 years, Tiger Woods & Michael Jordan and TGL will need their man to be successful. 

For my second love Golf, I still can’t see enough of my old friend and his wry smile and watching him cut a 3 wood from 275 to 3 feet.  Give us more Tiger, golf needs you and selfishly so do I!

2024 PGA Championship  The aftermath and what might have been! As the dust settles after the 2024 PGA Championship, it appears that epic failure may have occurred, and in the midst may have robbed the golf fans of a truly special summer.  When all the officials made appearances today in Louisville and released the specifics on the case that involves world number one Scottie Scheffler, the video released told a different story than what was released during the event.   In my experience having worked a PGA Championship, Ryder Cup and 4 Charles Schwab Cups, the time and effort that’s put in to coordinate player parking, traffic control, State Police, County Sheriffs, and local PD and volunteers to execute the event takes countless hours of planning and execution.  After watching the videos released today, considering the rain and the tragic death of a beloved volunteer, it appears that the police officer clearly overreacted.  There appears to be no dragging an...

Mike Scully on the 2024 PGA Championship Looking forward to the Scottie Scheffler Open later this week!  Trying to weed through all the history that Valhalla has gathered in a relatively short time for a golf club that hosts Major Championships, Ryder Cups, etc.  Tiger Woods validated the course with his shootout with Bob May in 2000 after their maiden voyage and tour veteran Mark Brooks in 1996.  Rory made great work of Valhalla sprinting to the finish to avoid a lightning strike in 2014 and returns in great form.   As a former member of the PGA of America, there were many times I didn't agree with their leadership and how it impacted us a club professionals.  However, their move to invite LIV Golfers this week and try to extend somewhat of an olive branch maybe the smartest thing they have done in years.  With the resigning of one of golf's true gentlemen Jimmy Dunne from the PGA Tour Advisory Board on Monday, professional golf is searching for a way...
